Order of the Red Banner, Type 4, Variation 2, Sub-variation 3 (Strekalov classification), #252796, circa early 1945 issue.
Silver gilt, enamels; measures 44.7 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 36.6 mm in width; weighs 25.2 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Features a smooth reverse with a circular depression in the middle. The mint mark is in relatively large font, with a straight dash over the last character in the word "Monetnyi" (Type 3, Var. 2 according to McDaniel classification). According to The Order of the Red Banner by Durov and Strekalov, it was manufactured in 1945 by the Moscow Mint.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is essentially perfect: it is completely free of wear visible to the naked eye and shows a beautiful luster. There is only a tiny amount of flaking along the edge in the lower right corner of the banner and few microscopic contact marks - all of it completely invisible without magnification.

The details of the wreath are beautifully crisp and free of visible wear; the gilt finish is exceptionally well-preserved and bright throughout. There is a very attractive even patina to the reverse. The order comes on an early post-war suspension, a two-layer model in steel with an integral catch of the pin. The perfectly preserved ribbon is relatively recent, although it does show age and some use. The connecting link appears to be original as well; its ends are still joined with solder. Overall, an extremely attractive and well-preserved example of a WW2 Order of the Red Banner!
