Citation to Private M. Skvortsova (М.Д. Скворцова) who defended Leningrad during the siege in an antiaircraft artillery brigade, 1945.

Single page 8 ¾" x 11 ½", front only. The citation was issued to an enlisted woman who served in the Krasnoselskaya Twice Order of the Red Banner Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade for her service during the Siege of Leningrad. The citation was issued shortly after the Patriotic War ended, probably to acknowledge the contribution of the enlisted personnel of the brigade upon their discharge from active duty.

The military unit number on the seal of the brigade is illegible but the name "Krasnoselskaya Twice Order of the Red Banner Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade" suggests that it was probably the 83rd Krasnoselskaya Twice Order of the Red Banner Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade, formed from the 169th Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment which was protecting the sky over Leningrad throughout the entire Patriotic War, repelling air attacks on the city and on the warships of the Baltic Fleet. In January 1944, when the blockade was lifted, the regiment was awarded with the second Order of the Red Banner and given the honorific "Krasnoselskiy". In May 1944, it was re-formed into the 83rd Separate Krasnoselskaya Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade, Leningrad Air Defense Army.

Please keep in mind that the information in the paragraph above is based only on the name of the brigade since we could not cross-reference it with the military unit number.

In very good condition. The citation was printed on rather thin paper which explains the wear to the edges and corners, as well as mild wrinkles and small separations at the ends of the fold lines. However, besides very minor foxing and tiny stains that seeped from the verso to the obverse, all the wear is confined to the margins and does not detract from the legibility of the printed, handwritten and stamped matter inside the red decorative frame. If anything, the wear and the light and even age toning to the paper only add to the air of authenticity of the document.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
