Unit citation for taking part in the capture of Gdynja, issued to Major Andrei Pavlov.
Measures 9" x13". The document quotes Stalin's decree #313 of 28 March 1945. Shows unit seal, and is signed by its commander, Col. Smirnov. Very interesting and detailed artwork including the portrait of Stalin and a depiction of Soviet IL-2 airplanes raining bombs on what is clearly a Western European city. Note that besides the bombers the picture shows a US-built DC-3 transport plane (supplied to the Soviet Union through the Lend-Lease agreement) known to the Russians as Li-2 or "Duglas".

Besides being an important Baltic Sea port, Gdynja was home to a large German naval base, and its capture on 28 March 1945 was vitally important for the allies.
In good overall condition. It has been rolled (although we will ship it flat) and has some minor creases and tears along the edges but no folds or any significant damage. The large tear at the bottom left-hand corner does not have any paper missing, and can be repaired with tape, if desired. Very clean and the colors are still nice and vibrant.
