Postcard Lenin's Arrival in Riga, April 1900, 1979.
The size is continental standard 6" x 4", unmailable without a cover; published by the Visual Arts Publishing House, circulation 35,000, very low by Soviet standards. The artwork is an offset print of a 1956 oil-on-canvas painting by V. Kirillov, on exhibit at the Central Lenin's Museum in Moscow. The painting depicts the scene of Lenin's arrival at the Riga Railway Station right after his release from Siberian exile. The purpose of his visit was to establish contacts with the local social-democrats and discuss issues related to the Bolshevik newspaper Iskra ("Spark") before he had to flee abroad.
In excellent condition, no wear but truly microscopic corner bumps.
