In wave blue wool gabardine with red band and piping. Gold embroidery on the band and the visor as well as the leather chin cord. Red silk tape threads through the leather sweatband to allow a customized fit, a feature unique to general officer hats. The two-piece hat badge is also the type specific to generals. The leather sweat shield is of the early teardrop style and shows the logo of Moscow's TsPK Factory of the Ministry of Defense. The label shows a 1973 date of manufacture and is marked 56 for size (equivalent of US size 7 / Medium).

The hat is in excellent condition. Both the interior and exterior are very clean. The patent leather visor of the visor is perfect; the gold embroidery is likewise perfectly preserved and tight, without any loose strands. There is a single tiny moth nip to the top of the crown, barely noticeable even at a close inspection - no other moth damage or active moth problem. The liner has a small snag but remains perfectly sound. The sweat label exhibits a minor amount of wear, but the inscription and date remain completely legible.
