Aluminum, paint, lacquer; 51.2 x 28.4 mm. The inscription reads "60 Years of Guarding the Caspian (Sea), 1982". The Soviet naval flag at the top is combined with the Border Guard green. Interesting stamped pattern on the reverse consisting of dots, letters, and hammer & sickle emblems. Excellent condition.

This very uncommon badge was issued to active-duty officers and possibly some of the VIP retirees of the Caspian Naval KGB Border Guards. The southern part of Caspian Sea was considered a high importance area as it included Soviet maritime border with Iran, a major Soviet Cold War adversary - especially at the time of the war in Afghanistan.
