Postcard Lenin Visiting a Worker's Family, 1958.

The size is continental standard 6" x 4", postally unused and unmarked, possibly part of a series or a set. Published by the Soviet Artist Publishing House, Moscow; circulation 500,000. The artwork is an offset print of a painting by M. Krivenko depicting Lenin visiting a worker's household and, apparently, explaining something to the family - most likely, how blissfully happy they would be in the workers' paradise.

This painting is one of hundreds, perhaps thousands, made with one goal only: to create and cultivate Lenin's public image as a kind, humane, selfless person who would spend time with an individual family to make them see the benefits of socialism and believe in its slogans, who cared for children and gladly sacrificed his own food for the sake of hungry orphans, etc., etc., ad nauseum. "Grandpa Lenin" was how Soviet teachers called him when talking about him to their young students.

The postcard is in excellent condition, showing a faint area of discoloration to the verso, probably due to uneven exposure to light and insignificant on that side.
