Postcard Launching the Nuclear-Powered Ice Breaker Lenin, 1961.
The size is continental standard 6" x 4", postally unused and unmarked; published by the Soviet Artist Publishing House, circulation 10,000, extremely small by Soviet standards. The artwork is an offset print of the 1959-60 painting by V. Shtranikh, depicting the launch of the ice breaker Lenin. The ship's construction started on 25 August 1956 in Leningrad, its maiden voyage began on 15 September 1959 and on 3 December it was commissioned for exploitation, becoming the first in the world vessel with a nuclear power plant.
In excellent condition, just microscopic corner bumps.
