Postcard The Battle Score Opened, 1984.

The size is continental standard 6" x 4", unmailable without a cover, published by the Visual Arts Publishing House, Moscow, circulation 140,000. The article on the verso explains what is depicted on the obverse. The artwork is an offset print of the painting by I. Rodinov, illustrating an episode of a WW2 skirmish which took place on 30 July 1942 between a German Ju-88 bomber and a torpedo cutter MO-74 of the Kaspian Naval Flotilla which was escorting a convoy of tankers with Baku oil. Twice the Ju-88 attempted to bomb the convoy but had to veer off to avoid the fire from the antiaircraft guns of the MO-74. The third attempt was fatal for the German pilot. This cutter alone and only in 1942 successfully repelled 31 attacks of German aircraft.

In excellent condition: just barely noticeable storage wear to the verso.
