Soviet Coal Miner's Lantern, 1940s - 1950s.
Stands 10 ¾' tall to the top of the ring; the base is 3 ¼" across. Steel body, glass, metal mesh on top. All components appear to be original.
There are no cracks, tears, or dents visible on any of the parts. The red paint is partially worn off but remains about 90% present.
The lantern is offered exclusively as a collectible item, a rare authentic period piece that would make an uncommon accent in a display of Stalin-era Soviet memorabilia, and a great conversation point. Just to think that this is what miners used to light their working area in pitch-black coal mines!
Please note that the medal in our photo is for size reference.
