Measures 14" x 17 ½" with the frame, visible size of the painting is 9" x 12 ¼". The canvas is glued to a plywood backing. There is an inscription on the back "Communist East Germany ca. 1950." The portrait is unsigned but is clearly made by a professional artist, depicting an excellent likeness to one of Soviet state-approved images of Stalin.

In excellent condition. There are three tiny chips to the paint along the right edge of the artwork, not very obvious or detractive. The portrait itself is wear-free.

The portrait is very well made and sized perfectly to be the centerpiece of a collector's display of Stalin-era and WW2 Soviet militaria.
