Japan, Order of the Golden Kite, 4th cl., on original suspension ribbon with rosette, 1937 - 1947.
Gilt silver, enamels, 49.3 mm in height (incl eyelet), 45.4 mm in width. Suspended from a threaded ribbon with a 21.8 mm-wide rosette, both of which appear to be original. The reverse is plain. In fine condition. The top ray near the eyelet and the right side of the obverse show several chips and flakes to the blue and red enamel. The front of the ribbon and the rosette are a little faded in color; the rosette has mild soiling at 1 o'clock.
The Order of the Golden Kite was established by Imperial Prescript of February 12, 1890. It was bestowed upon persons who had rendered distinguished military service. The order was abolished by Government Ordinance in 1947.
