Postal cover commemorating the centennial of Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis, Lithuanian SSR, canceled with First Day stamp, 1975.
The size is 6 ¼" x 4 ½", postally unused, published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation unknown. The pre-printed government postal stamp is canceled with the First Day stamp issued by the Vilnius Post Office and dated 22 September 1975. The artwork in the left panel was done by R. Strelnikov; the artist's name is printed on the bottom flap on the verso.
In excellent condition, showing just minuscule corner bumps.
Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis was a Lithuanian composer, painter, choirmaster, cultural figure, and writer in Polish. He is famous for his contribution to symbolism and Art Nouveau, and is considered one of the pioneers of abstract art in Europe.
