Postcard commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1st Soviet passenger air route, Moscow - Nizhniy Novgorod, 1972.
The size is 6 ½" x 4 ½", postally unused, published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation unknown. The special-issue postal stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of Soviet civil aviation, showing the progress it made from the first experimental tri-planes to supersonic jet liners. The birthdate of Soviet civil aviation is 15 July 1923, the day of the first flight along the first commercial 260-mile-long route from Moscow to Nizhniy Novgorod. The flight lasted 3.5 hours; the airplane carried six passengers; each passenger was allowed to have 18 lbs. of baggage free of charge.
In excellent, near-mint condition. The verso is unmarked and perfectly clean.
