Excellent Antiaircraft Gunner Badge, by the Pobeda Factory, circa mid- to late 1950s.

Brass, enamels. Measures 45.3 mm x 36.3 mm; weighs 14.3 g without the screw plate. This is the last variation of the badge, classified as "Classic Flat" in the Airapetyan's catalog. It features five sharply defined scrolls in the top ornament. The inscription on the white band is in a characteristic angular or so-called "geometric" font. The center medallion is characteristically flat. This version is relatively scarce, rated 4 out of 5 by Airapetyan and 3 out of 5 by Khlamkin.

Excellent condition. The enamel is essentially flawless, showing a beautiful luster and no wear visible to the naked eye. The details of the flak gun and wreath are perfect and crisp. There is an attractive even patina to the brass on the obverse, while the original gilt finish on the reverse is completely intact and bright. As was customary at the time, the screw post was reduced by a few mm for convenience, but its remaining length of over 7 mm is fully sufficient for proper functionality. An original Pobeda Factory screw plate is included.

Overall, a very attractive example of the AAA proficiency badge from the height of the Cold War.
