First Day Postcard for 70th Anniversary of October Revolution, incorrectly dated 25 August 1987.
The size is standard 6" x 4", published by the Ministry of Communications of the USSR, circulation 15,000, extremely small by Soviet standards. Unmailable without a cover, marked with a special-issue "70th Anniversary of the Great October" postal stamp cancelled with a special First Date cancel, incorrectly dated 25 August 1987. Note that 25 October 1917 was by the Julian calendar, then in use in Russia. It corresponds to 7 November by the currently used Gregorian calendar. The artist's name, V. Kuznetsov, is printed in the lower left-hand corner on the verso. The artwork is an offset print of his 1970 painting entitled Long Live the Socialist Revolution!
In excellent, near-mint condition and, with only 15,000 of these incorrectly dated First Day cancels ever stamped, quite a rarity.
