Postcard Naval Railway Artillery Batteries Defending Leningrad, artist identified on verso, 1976.
The size is continental 6" x 4", unmailable without a cover, published by the Visual Arts Publishing House, Moscow, circulation 250,000 copies. The artist's name, I. Rodinov, is printed at the bottom on the verso. The postcard is #13 in a set or series presenting artwork about defense of Leningrad during WW2. Described textually on the verso, this painting depicts a railway-mounted battery of naval guns. Twenty-eight such batteries comprised the 101st Naval Railway Brigade. They carried 63 guns of 356-, 180-, 152-, and 130-mm caliber. Their mobility allowed for quick maneuvering to the locations where they were needed the most. The long range of these guns rained death and damage to the enemy far behind the front lines of fire.
