Invitation Card, Pass #12055 to Grandstand GUM 3 in Red Square, Moscow, issued to Aleksandra Isayeva, for VIP viewing of the 7 November 1949 military parade and demonstration in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the October Revolution.

Measures 4 ½" x 3", printed on heavy-stock coated paper, decorated with the State Emblem of the USSR and the image of the Moscow Kremlin's Spasskaya Clock Tower. The pass specifies the grandstand number and, in small print below, the way to reach it. Access to Red Square during parades and demonstrations was strictly controlled, so these directions were quite necessary. The text at the very bottom of the pass reads "Valid only upon presentation of the passport," meaning the internal Soviet photo ID which was called "passport" but was not valid for international travel.

In excellent condition, no wear visible to the naked eye.

The pass bears the name of Lt. Gen. Vlasik as the issuer of the pass. In 1949, Lieutenant General Nikolai Vlasik held the post of Head of the Chief Directorate of Internal Security of the MGB of the USSR, and was Stalin's personal bodyguard since 1931. That did not prevent his arrest in December 1952, accusation in participation in a Sionist plot in MGB as well as a number of other similarly unrealistic accusations. He was thrown in jail, expelled from the Party and quickly sentenced to ten years of prison. After Stalin's death, his sentence was reduced to five years which he had to spend in exile in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
