General Order of the Leningrad Front of 27 January 1944, announcing the lifting of the siege of Leningrad.

Single page 10" x 8", front only. The order announced success of a twelve-day-long offensive which resulted in the full lifting of the blockade of Leningrad, liberation of over 700 cities, towns and villages, and driving the enemy forces up to 65 miles away from the city. The order praises the troops of the Leningrad Front and the Baltic Fleet for their military victory, and the Leningraders for their indomitable spirit in overcoming the hardships of the blockade and continuing to "forge the weapons of victory over the enemy." The order announces а 324-gun salute at 8 p.m. on 27 January, twenty-four salvos in honor of the victory and liberation of the city.

In very good to excellent condition. The document looks to be mimeographed; the ink seeped through the paper a little. The bold font looks a bit blurred; however, all the text is perfectly legible. The verso has some geometrical drawings in pencil, rather faint and not visible on the obverse.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
