Order issued by the Donetsk Cheka on 26 May 1921 to release Vasily Kalinin from jail.
Measures 3 ¾" x 6 ¼", on a form mimeographed on a piece of used bookkeeping ledger and filled in by hand on both sides. The order mandates the jail warden to immediately release the person specified on the verso of the document. The order bears the seal of the Donetsk Cheka and is signed by its Chairman, Deputy Chief of the Secret Operations Department, and the secretary. The instructions on the verso state that Vasily Kalinin (Василий Матвеевич Калинин) was to be released without the right to leave the town of Bakhmut, and with the obligation to register with the regional Cheka on the 1st and 15th of every month.
In very good to excellent condition. The durable paper of the ledge has withstood the test of time exceptionally well and shows no wear at all. It is slightly wrinkled along the top edge and has tiny tears to the left edge where it was removed from its file. It also has a couple of longer tears to the left edge, easily repairable on the verso as they do not reach any of the order's text there.
