MOPR (International Organization to Help Revolutionaries) membership badge, 1922-1948 issue.
Bronze-plated steel, enamels, screw back variation. Measures 23.9 mm tall, 25.1 mm wide. Attractive artwork in Constructivist style shows half of the globe in chains and the sun rising over the other half.
Excellent condition. The enamel is perfect, completely free of any wear visible to the naked eye - which is very uncommon for a Soviet badge of the pre-Patriotic War period. The copper screw post is original and full length, nearly 9.5 mm, and includes a very scarce original screw plate with the logo of the Leningrad's Fabmass Factory. The screw plate is slightly loose due to worn threads but still works reasonably well with the screw post and will not slide off.
Created by Komintern in 1922, the MOPR had a purpose of liberating terrorists from jails around the world and fomenting anti-government activities in foreign countries. The organization existed until 1948, but the production of its badges stopped in 1941 after the German invasion of the Soviet Union, never to resume.
