Honorary Medal (Badge) of the Soviet Peace Fund, 1980s.
In brass; the medallion is 30.1 mm wide. The suspension device shows the late style mint mark of the Moscow Mint. Excellent condition.
The Soviet Peace Fund was one of the international branches of the Communist Party, aiming to undermine western weapon developments and military deployments. The organization funded numerous "peace seeking" movements and protests in the US and Western Europe. In the last decade of its existence, most working Soviet citizens had to make "voluntary" (in reality, coerced) monthly contributions to its coffers. The Honorary Medal was awarded to one of the high-ranking functionaries, either in the USSR or abroad.
