Table Medal in Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the LKSMU (Lenin Communist Youth League of Ukraine), with original case of issue, 1979.
In bronze, diameter 65 mm. Beautiful 3-d artwork featuring Red Army cavalrymen of the Civil War era carrying a banner with three decorations bestowed upon the Ukrainian Komsomol: orders of Lenin, October Revolution and Red Banner. The inscription on the obverse is in Ukrainian: "60 Years of LKSMU. Lenin Communist Youth League of Ukraine." The reverse shows dates 1944, 1958 and 1969 when the Ukrainian chapter of Komsomol was awarded with decorations. At 3 o'clock near the edge there is a stamped maker mark of the Moscow Mint and date "MMD-79".
The plastic case has semi-translucent hinged lid and red base with a fitted nest for the medal.
The artwork for this medal was created by P. Veremenko and A. Novichkov. The circulation was limited by the Soviet standards with only 2000 struck in total at the Moscow Mint.
The medal is in excellent condition, with perfectly defined details free of significant wear. There are no edge knocks or noticeable scratches. Very attractive even toning to bronze on both sides with just a couple of tiny oxidation blemishes near the edge that do not detract. One of the hinges of the case is broken, but the lid still securely locks to its base. The case is otherwise intact and shows only minimal wear to the exterior, still nice and presentable.
