Alexander III and Marie Coronation Jetton, 1883.
In silver. Measures 26.0 mm in diameter. Obverse shows Alexander's and Marie's monograms with motto "God is with us". Reverse shows Imperial crown and words "Crowned in Moscow, 15 May 1883".
In excellent condition. The obverse has only some tiny, barely noticeable contact marks and scratches, but the details of the monograms, crown and inscription are beautifully preserved and crisp. The reverse is practically pristine. The raised edge has a few tiny dings only, no bumps or significant knocks. The die for this attractive medallion was designed by the engraver A. Griliches Sr. The jetton was manufactured by the State Mint and officially issued in commemoration of the coronation.
