Red Flag Company Badge, First Award, circa 1959-60 issue.
Early type in silver-plated and gilded brass and enamels; measures 37.9 mm tall x 31.4 mm wide; weighs 15.5 g without the screw plate. This version of the badge is almost certainly of Soviet manufacture.
In very fine to excellent condition, far above the average for the early issue of this award. The enamel is well-preserved overall and shows a beautiful luster, completely free of the usual large chips, repairs or rubbing. There is just a single minuscule surface flake in the upper left corner of the banner, practically unnoticeable to the naked eye, and a few hairlines on the rig

The enamel is well-preserved overall and shows a beautiful luster, completely free of the usual large chips, repairs or rubbing. There is just a single minuscule surface flake in the upper left corner of the banner, practically unnoticeable to the naked eye, and a few hairlines on the right side of the red plaque near the bottom that makes the enamel in the area appear slightly darker (it nevertheless remains sound.) The gold plating on the wreath is completely intact, while the silver plating in the center shows only a minor amount of wear at the high points of the artwork. The copper screw post is full length, approx. 11 mm long (note its characteristically high location on the badge). The unmarked screw plate appears to be original to the badge or at least of the period.
One of the requirements for this military award was total self-sufficiency in providing food for all of the company soldiers.
