The maker's mark is struck poorly but is still easily recognizable. In 1967, this manufacturer merged with several other workshops forming the Moscow Jewelry Factory with the trademark МЮЗ ("MYuZ", the Russian abbreviation of the name of the factory). The interior of the panels is gilded. The outer back panel is completely free of patina or other wear. Perhaps it had an engraved inscription that was later erased.

The case is in excellent condition. The artwork is well-preserved, having all of its sculptured details perfectly defined. The case is completely free of dents or significant dings. The cabochon closure button functions smoothly; the hinge is intact; the alignment of the two panels is perfect. The gilt finish on the interior is pale but clearly visible. The outer surface of the lid is lightly and attractively patinated, mostly in the recessed areas of the artwork.
