Russian February 1917 Revolution Jetton.
In brass, of less common shape (as opposed to the usual round jettons). Measures 34.7 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 25.6 mm in width; weighs 5.3 g without the connecting links. On the obverse is a female figure representing Russia holding a banner and shield with the date "1917". Along the top is a raised inscription "Freedom" with the last letter omitted, probably an inadvertent error on the side of the designer of the jetton.
The reverse quotes a famous verse by Russian poet Alexander Pushkin; the poem was addressed to a former member of Union of Salvation secret society

The reverse quotes a famous verse by Russian poet Alexander Pushkin; the poem was addressed to a former member of Union of Salvation secret society, later known as Dekabristy or "The Decemberists" (for the December 1825 mutiny in St. Petersburg):
Dear friend, have faith: the wakeful skies Presage a dawn of wonder - Russia Shall from her age-old sleep arise, And despotism impatient crushing, Upon its ruins our names incise! (English translation is by I. Zheleznova).
In outstanding, excellent condition - extremely uncommon for a donation jetton of its period. The details of the artwork are perfect and exceptionally crisp. There are no visible dings or scratches.
