The obverse is an overhead view of an early airplane in silver suspended above a silver gilt laurel wreath. The wreath is bound at the bottom with a sky-blue enameled ribbon. The lettering on it reads: "The Strength of Russia is in Her Air Fleet". Reverse of the wreath is as finely detailed as the obverse but the ribbon is not enameled. The ends of the ribbon bear three hallmarks. One is oval with a Kokoshnik lady's head, an "84" silver grade, and the Greek letter Alpha indicating St. Petersburg as the city of manufacture. The second is a Kokoshnik in a circle assayer's hallmark. The third is Cyrillic maker mark "VD" identifying the manufacturer as Eduard (the initials stand for Vera Dietwald, the widow of the original owner of the Eduard firm)

In very fine to excellent condition. The sky-blue enamel on the lower scrolls of the ribbon has some tiny flakes and chips, but these are nearly unnoticeable to the naked eye and certainly do not detract from the overall visual appeal of this beautiful piece. The enamel is otherwise perfect and retains a nice luster. The details of the wreath and airplane are extremely well-preserved; the original fire gilt on the wreath is still clearly visible in recessed areas of the wreath. Includes an unmarked silver loop which is likely original to the jetton.
