Neck badge with ribbon. Silver gilt, enamel, 62.3 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 50.1 mm in width, weighs 38.1 g. The bust of Simon Bolivar in the center medallion is in silver on silver gilt background, encircled by his name in gold on blue enamel. The center medallion on the reverse features the coat of arms of Venezuela, superimposed on a silver gilt background, resting on a ribbon inscribed with "15 DE AVRIL 1810 LIBERTAD 5 DE JULIO 1811." The badge is in very fine to excellent condition, showing mild attractive patina to the metal and a tiny spot of probably glue on the blue enamel at 12:05 o'clock, visible only when tilting the badge to reflect a bright light. The neck ribbon is moiré silk, 18.5" long with silk ties. It is perhaps not very good for wearing due to two tears near its center but will display nicely.
The Order of the Liberator was established by Venezuelan President Antonio Guzman Blanco on 14 September 1880. It was the highest decoration of
the country, bestowed for services, outstanding merit and benefits for the country. It was awarded until 2010 when the National Assembly of
Venezuela decided to abolish and replace it with the newly created Order of Liberators of Venezuela.
