The postcard is #3 of a series presenting revolution-themed posters, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. The artist's name, N. Dolgorukov, is printed in the lower left-hand corner on the verso. The artwork shows the entrance to the Smolny Institute in Petrograd, the headquarters of the revolution, from which Lenin directed the armed revolt not only in Petrograd but wherever it was happening in Russia.
