Group of Decorated Artillery Officers & NCO, May 1943.
Measures 7" x 4 ¾", printed on glossy photo paper. These young artillerists were among the first to wear shoulder boards which had been introduced in January 1943, but most Red Army officers got them much later, in mid-1943 to as late as 1944. Most in the group are wearing decorations including Orders of the Red Star, Medal for Valor, and very early Medals for Defense of Leningrad which had just been issued in April 1943. The inscription on the verso lists the officers' ranks (from sergeant major to lieutenant colonel), last names and initials. The list is dated May 1943.

In very good to excellent condition. Minor wear to the emulsion, mostly along the left and right edges, is evident. Two or three pushpin holes are visible on the verso but almost invisible on the obverse. Tilting the photo to reflect a bright light reveals a few tiny contact points, a stain, and a couple of wrinkles, but they are practically invisible at a normal viewing angle. The inscription is written in a neat calligraphic hand and is perfectly legible.
