We are quoting the text of the diploma almost verbatim, observing the order of the original text to demonstrate the hierarchy of societal values of that time. The diploma states that the Moscow City School Committee hereby certifies that Julia Kopyevskaya-Karaseva, of Russian Orthodox faith, born on 18 June 1902, daughter of a peasant from Kolomenskiy District, Moscow Province, while maintaining exemplary behavior throughout her studies and at the final exams, has shown the following results in May 1914: Bible studies - excellent; Russian language - excellent, Arithmetic - excellent, Needlework - [blank]. Written assignments - excellent. The diploma is signed by several representatives of the Moscow public education administration, and two teachers: the clergy and the classroom teacher.
In very good condition. The paper is slightly wrinkled and worn along the edges and at the corners. However, almost all visible wear is contained to the margins. The gold paint of the decorative frame is intact and has retained its original luster. The printed and handwritten text is crisp, clear, and perfectly legible.
