In excellent condition. Exceptionally free of bumps, dings, nicks and scratches you would expect to see on a 1958 podstakannik. Very attractive patina adds character.

In the early XVII century, during the so-called "Time of Troubles", Russia was in turmoil as dynastic struggles undermined its ability to resist foreign invasions. At the most critical time, when Moscow was occupied by the Polish and Lithuanian army, rescue came from the patriotic movement organized by a Nizhniy Novgorod trader Minin and Prince Pozharsky. What Minin and Pozharsky did for Russian independence may be compared perhaps with the role of Joan of Arc in France; their monument is still one of the most noticeable features of the Red Square in Moscow.

Please note: If you try to come up with a replacement glass liner, it should be made of tempered glass even though we urge you not to use this to drink from! We offer this strictly as a historic artifact (and dramatic stage prop for your dining room or study). We provide no warranty of its suitability for actually drinking hot beverages like tea or coffee. All we know is that it should look great sitting on a tray next to your antique family samovar.

Enjoy!
