The red band around the center medallion with the globe shows the letters "INO PGU" and dates "1920-1990". The abbreviations stand for Иностранный Отдел (Foreign Department [of NKVD]) and Первое Главное Управление (First Main Directorate), the names of the service used in different years of its existence. Raised circular logo of the Moscow Mint to the reverse of the suspension device. The ribbon is in royal blue, a traditional color of the Soviet state security and intelligence agencies.

In excellent, near mint condition.

This medal of Soviet intelligence (or more precisely, a badge according to the Soviet hierarchy of awards) was established just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Relatively few were ever issued, exclusively to the veterans of the service.
