This large 247 mm (nearly 9 ¾") plate shows 4 iterations of a circular ornament consisting of stylized images of red flags, fields of wheat and, possibly, factory smokestacks piping golden smoke into the sky, thus symbolizing the political, agricultural and industrial might of the Soviet Union. The ornament is anchored by the gold sickle and hammer in the center, the symbol of unity of the Soviet peasantry and industrial workers.
The rim of the plate is capped by the words "Glory to the Great October!" with the dates 1917 - 1987 below, the latter framed by two olive branc

The ornament is anchored by the gold sickle and hammer in the center, the symbol of unity of the Soviet peasantry and industrial workers.
The rim of the plate is capped by the words "Glory to the Great October!" with the dates 1917 - 1987 below, the latter framed by two olive branches, a symbol of the peaceful nature of the Soviet Communist regime.
In other words, everything you see on the front of the plate is exactly the opposite of the reality of said regime.
The reverse has provision to hang the plate on the wall and shows the trademark of the Baranovka Porcelain Factory, Ukraine (fig. # 47 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al).

Excellent condition. The artwork is without blemish. The front shows no imperfections of any kind, and the reverse shows only very minor wear to the bottom ring.
