"Lenin in His Student Years", Table Medal, 1964.

Bronze, measures 70.4 mm wide. Obverse shows image of adolescent Lenin (Ylyanov) in high school, with writing "Volodya Ylyanov, a Student of Simbirsk Gymnasium (i.e. high school), 1887". On the obverse is portrait of Lenin during his university studies (before he was kicked out for subversive activities) and inscription "V. Ylyanov - [University] Student. 1891." Somewhat less common portrayal, as opposed to more numerous later portraits of Lenin as Bolshevik leader. Very nicely executed artwork in high relief is by M.G. This medal is a part of a 12-medal series entitled "Life and Actions of V.I. Lenin". The first six were created in 1962 and the rest in 1964; all were designed by Manizer and struck at the Leningrad Mint. The "Student Years" piece had a relatively limited circulation of "over 2370" according to the Commemorative [Table] Medal of the Soviet Period, 1919 - 1991 (fig. 322).

Excellent condition. The raised details are prefect and crisp. Attractive even toning throughout.
