Navy officer dress dagger with leather sheath, early to mid-1950s.

Maker-marked "ZIK" on the ricasso; on the other side of the blade has engraved alphanumeric serial number "NЛ8222K". The pommel displays the Soviet State emblem of the style introduced in mid-1946 and used until 1955, with 16 scrolls representing the number of republics in the Soviet Union. The quality is typical of Soviet daggers produced before the second half of the 50s (after 1955, the austerity measures and high production demands called for cutting some corners and using cheaper materials - such as varnish instead of gold plating on the brass parts). The handle grip

The handle grip is in attractive dark-toned Bakelite.

In very good condition. The scabbard leather has some scuffs but no cuts, chips or other serious wear; most of it still shows nice original gloss. The factory-sharpened brilliant blade has just the minimal in-and-out wear and a couple of tiny nicks to the cutting edge, but no oxidation spots or other significant condition issues. The grip is perfect, free of the usual hairline fractures or chips. There is modest even wear to gilt on the brass pats and attractive patina that adds character, while the original gold plating is still clearly visible, especially on the middle fitting and chape of the scabbard.
