Red Flag Company Badge, 1st Award, 1959 - early 1960s.

In brass and enamel; measures 38.2 x 31.6 mm. A massive badge of very attractive design obviously copied from Soviet badges of the WW2 - early post-war era.

In very fine to excellent condition. The enamel is far better preserved than on a typical DPRK badge of the early period: it retains nice luster, has only a few tiny scratches and contact marks, and is completely free of the usual flaking or chips. The details of the center medallion are likewise far better preserved than usual, do not show much wear. The gilt finish is still clearly visible in the recesse

The screw post has been reattached or strengthened with extra solder, which is very typical for the early issues of this badge. The screw plate is a replacement.

One of the requirements for this award was total self- sufficiency in providing food for all of the company soldiers.
