Wall-plaque with Stalin's bas-relief, circa 1950s Shows appliqué Stalin's facsimile signature in bronze.

Original mold was created by the acclaimed Soviet artist Nikloay Sokolov, winner of as many as five Stalin Prize awards. The name is shown on the undercut of the shoulder. Sokolov is best known for his graphics, especially propaganda cartoon drawings he made during WW2 as a member of famous Kukryniksy team.

The back plate in hardwood veneers is approx. 6 3/4 " by 9". The plaque with the image is in what appears to be bronze-plated plastic with metal border, nearly 5 1/2" in diameter.

Very good condition with just a touch of light wear to bronze finish and oxidation to the border. The finish of the wooden back plate shows minor damage on the back side only. One of the three screws on the back attaching the bas-relief is missing, but the assembly is still tight and reliable.
