Killed in Action note, WW 2. The note shows the name and rank of the soldier, date of birth and date of his death, and the burial place.
Filled out by hand on special stationary of the Narkomat of Defense, this one-page letter was sent to the local military commissariat. The commissariat was then to notify the closest family member of the fallen serviceman, as shown in the document, nearly always his wife or mother.
A sad and important reminder of the cost of war.
