Photo Postcard with a View on the Volga near the city of Kostroma, cancel dated 28 December 1911.

The size is standard 5 ½" x 3 ½", with affixed 3-kopek postal stamp. Published by O. Bekeneva, printed by Sherer, Nabgoltz & Co., Moscow. Two Kostroma cancels on top of the verso are dated 28 December 1911. The cancel at the destination, Kuivastu, then just a fishing village on the east shore of the island of Moon, modern-day Muhumaa, the third largest island of Estonia, is dated 1 January 1912. The postcard is addressed to a teacher; the message on the left side of the verso is in Estonian, "Haas uut aastat", which means "Happy New Year."

In very good condition. The obverse shows minimal soiling and two small faint stains, not obscuring any details of the photo. The verso is mostly clean, the postal cancels and all the printed and handwritten text are crisp and perfectly legible.
