The Breast Star comes in a 5 x 4 x 1.5" case in cardboard wrapped in dark-blue leather-textured paper. Inside, both parts of the case are lined with foam rubber of the same color. The case is in excellent condition, showing negligibly small scuffs to the corners. The latch is in perfect working order, the hinges are tight.
The Order of the Crown (Dutch: "Kroonorde"; French: "Ordre de la Couronne") was instituted on 15 October 1897 by King Leopold II in his
capacity as ruler of the Congo Free State. The order, first intended to recognize heroic deeds and distinguished service achieved for service
in the Congo Free State, was incorporated into Belgium's system of honors following the 1908 annexation of Congo as a colony. The order ranks
as a high distinction, awarded for merits in artistic, literary, or scientific fields; advancements in commercial or industrial interests; or
exemplary performance in public office.
