In brass, the medallion measures 32 mm. The inscription in raised relief on the reverse reads "For Loyal Service." The issue box is in light cardboard, laminated with leatherette-textured blue paper. Inside, the fitted space for the medal is lines with ersatz short-nap velvet, the lid is lined with light foam rubber.
The medal is in very fine to excellent condition: just very slight pitting to the obverse. The ribbon bar perfectly clean, the brass sticker with the anchor is in place and wear-free. The issue box shows moderate wear to the blue laminate paper and corner separations

Medal for Loyal Service in the Maritime Industry ("Medaille für treue Dienste in der Seeverkehrswirtschaft") was established on 1 July 1965 in three grades, with additional embellishments, to recognize faithful service in maritime transport and inland navigation: 10 years service (bronze), 20 years service (silver), 30 years service (gold), 35 years service (gold with honor clasp for women), 40 years service (gold with honor clasp for men).
