The lid is professionally engraved with a rather naïve rendition of the Spasskaya Clock Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. The banner on top of the tower is inscribed "On Victory Day 9 May." The inscription at the bottom reads "Uman" (a city in central Ukraine), the year 1945 and the letters ЛПП ("LPP") in the center, probably the initials of the owner of the case. The gift dedication on the back reads "In memory of the days of the Great Patriotic War, to Dear Beloved Husband from his Wife."

In excellent condition. The lid has a barely noticeable indentation towards the lower left-hand corner. Minimal oxidation and light scuffs and scratches are the only other wear. The latch works with just the right amount of pressure. The hinge rivets are tight and strong. The internal surfaces show a few mild oxidation spots, not very intrusive to the eye or detractive. Overall, the case presents exceptionally well, and will make a great addition to a collection of Soviet WW2 memorabilia.
