The medal is in excellent condition, showing a few tiny bumps to the edges, minimal scuffing to the recessed areas of the obverse, and a single shallow scratch to the reverse above Yangel's head. All the wear is barely noticeable and not detractive.
The fitted presentation box is original not only in that it was made specifically for this medal but also because of its uncommon design. The red plastic insert is a hollow circle which fits the medal perfectly and allows both of its sides to be viewed without taking the medal out of the box.
The outer shell of the box is made of thin Plexiglas which shows mild scuffs and scratches but no cracks or any other significant wear.
