Imperial Russia, Postcard to Mitava (modern-day Jelgava, Latvia) Bank Requesting Receipt for Real Estate Tax Payment, 6 November 1913.

The size is standard 5 ½" x 3 ½", with a pre-printed postal stamp canceled by the Mitava Post office stamp. The postcard is addressed to the Mitava branch of the Peasants' Bank. The message on the verso informs the bank that the sender had mailed the real estate payment for his estate for April in October but still has not received the receipt for that payment. The large rectangular stamp of the bank on the obverse records that this postcard was received on 9 November 1913. The handwritten notation at the bottom left-hand corner says that the bank mailed out receipt number 23659 on 10 N

Looking at the dates stated in this postcard, one has to admire how quickly and efficiently the pre-Internet world dealt with its affairs!

In excellent condition, showing very minor barely noticeable staining to the verso. The ink is crisp and clear; the handwriting is perfectly legible.
