This is a belated decoration to one of the surviving WW2 veterans. Although often issued as a part of country-wide campaigns, post-war decorations like this one were usually awarded based on real WW2 exploits. In many cases, they were awarded to severely wounded veterans who had no other decorations. (We have not attempted to research it through the Russian military archives, so this piece still has a very good research potential.)

In excellent condition. The enamel is essentially perfect, having just a couple of microscopic contact marks, no flaking or any wear visible to the unaided eye. The raised details of the center medallion are perfect and exceptionally crisp. There are only a few tiny dings to the raised edge, barely noticeable. Very attractive toning to silver throughout. Comes on original suspension, a two-layer model in steel with an integral catch of the pin. The nicely preserved ribbon is old, probably of the period. The connecting link appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder.
