The reverse has only a few minuscule dings at the edge that are nearly unnoticeable, otherwise similarly pristine. There is an extremely attractive mild patina to the brass, while the original "gilt" mint luster beautifully preserved in recessed areas, especially on the obverse. Both sides are free of blemishes or significant oxidation spots.
The medal comes on an original suspension, a WW2 two-layer model in brass with a self-locking pin. The nicely preserved ribbon is old, possibly of the period. The connecting link appears to be original or at least of the period. To summarize, this is a truly superb example of the Defense of Caucasus Medal - practically impossible to upgrade.
