The medallion is in silver and lacquer; measures 42.5 mm in height incl. eyelet, 37.3 mm wide; weighs 26.5 g not including the suspension and connecting link.
In very fine to excellent condition. The lacquer in the letters is generally well-preserved - far better than usual - having only a few small chips to some of the letters, while most of it is still intact. The medal shows almost no wear other than a few miniscule dings to the edge and a few tiny scratches on the reverse. The raised details of the artwork are perfect and exceptionally crisp. Comes an original late 1940's suspension device in brass with a well-preserved, clean old ribbon. The connecting link is original and has not been cut.
This medal was likely issued based on a 1944-45 award decree within a year or two after the end of the war. Overall, a very attractive piece!
