Measures 2 ½" x 3 ½", printed on thin glossy photo paper. The handwritten inscription on the verso is addressed rather uncommonly: "To dear Maman, from Victor, 1944." There were very few Russians left in the Soviet Union by that time who would call their mother "maman." Most of them were rotting in GULAG labor camps all over the country. Tilting the photo to reflect a bright light reveals a few contact points and a tiny scuff or two but they are completely invisible at a normal viewing angle.
